The envision program was successfully completed as at the end of March 2009; having engaged with over 1,000 businesses in the last 5 years across the region enabling them to improve their environmental performance and economic productivity.
ReZolve would like to take the opportunity to thank the Environment Agency project management team for their support over the last 5 years and Government Office South West and the SW Regional Development Agency for their funding support. 
Please refer back to this site for final figures on carbon saved, waste diverted and employees trained over the life of the program. The support point for business with respect to environmental advice, guidance and business skills support now transfers to Business Link Devon and Cornwall and the Environmental Skills Network

About

Envision is a partnership lead by the Environment Agency to assist Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Cornwall become more competitive and sustainable by improved knowlege and skills in environmental management and efficient use of resources.

The partnership can offer businesses in Cornwall advice, support,
auditing and training in environmental managemement covering waste,
energy, water use and legislation compliance etc.

Envision is another piece of the jigsaw supporting businesses in Cornwall to become more sustainable and will work alongside established organisations such as CoaST (Cornwall Sustianable Tourism Project)

Results

Envision has worked with over 1800 SMEs since 2005 across the South West. In this time 556 supported SMEs have identified annual savings of:

- 48,000 tonnes of  waste,
- Over 300,000 litres of vehicle fuel,
- 38GWhs of energy,
- 632,000 m3 of water

All of which gave a combined C02 saving of over 25,000 tonnes. 
 
The supported SMEs also recorded an actual increase in sales of £35m with a further forecasted increase in sales of £28.6m. There was a recorded increase in staff of 435 Full Time Equivalents. This provided a calculated GDP safeguarded of £3.6m in the South West.
 
In Cornwall there were additional outputs which included the planning and grant approved or installation of:

- 19 Solar water heating systems,
- 8 ground source heat pumps,
- 10 biomass boilers.

In addition over 700 Cornwall employees received training in environmental management

Do the Packaging & WEEE Regulations affect you?

Every year the UK throws away many millions of tonnes of waste packaging and electronic equipment. They are the fastest growing waste streams in the UK and the EU. To address this situation businesses need to comply with the Packaging Regulations and the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations.
