NEWS AND INFORMATION 23/07/10- RE:Store Opens! Lance Kennedy, Cornwall Council's Cabinet member for Community Safety and Neighbourhoods officially opened the new office in the RE:STORE building in Lucknow Road, Bodmin at 12.30 pm on Friday, 23 July. Representatives from all the partner agencies were at the ceremony to view the project, talk to staff and see displays. 09/07/10- Environmental Skills Programme to Boost "New" Economy The environmental sector is one of the strongest economic drivers for businesses in the South West and now a unique project, Strengthening the Environment Sector (SES), aims to equip companies and public sector agencies with the skills to compete effectively in this new ‘low carbon economy’. Supported by the European Social Fund and the Skills Funding Agency, SES offers five programmes delivered through a partnership of regional organisations led by Cornwall College Business including Rezolve, Environmental Skills Network, Global Action Plan, Business Link for Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly, Devon and Somerset and the Cornwall Development Company. 09/07/10- Bright Green On Wednesday 30th June at the University of Exeter’s Cornwall Campus in Tremough, Falmouth, over 120 young people from Cornish schools took part in an exciting day of hands-on activities aimed at inspiring and informing year 10 students on the growing number of ‘green’ career opportunities that exist locally. 30/06/10- Young People from Cornish Schools are Encouraged to Consider “Green Careers” An exciting day of ‘hands on’ activities aimed at inspiring young people about the potential of green careers has been planned for teams of young people from Cornish Schools at the end of June. The Environmental Skills Network and Cornwall Learning Education Business Partnership are working together to deliver the event entitled: Bright Green. The day will introduce year 10 students, who are enthusiastic and skilled at STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects, to the growing number of ‘green’ opportunities that exist locally. 06/06/10- RE:Source Donates Garden Furniture RE:Source has donated two picnic benches made from recycled materials to the Lanhydrock Allotments and Community Garden Association. The benches have been made by volunteers at ReSource and were handed over on 6th July at the allotments, the allotments are on the grounds of the National Trust 21/05/10- ReZolve Receives Double Whammy! ReZolve has been awarded the Social Enterprise Mark, identifying them as a company trading solely for social and environmental purposes and proving that they have made the giant leap from grant dependency. This comes in the same week as a Business Link Carbon Footprint report declared ReZolve “well beyond carbon neutral”. 30/01/09- Wombles Give Reuse Customers Chance to Win Celebrity Goodies! RE:SOURCE in Bodmin, GOFA Penzance and SOFA Camborne will all be taking part in the first ever Big Womble event next month. CRNP are supporting the week long challenge by asking parents to sign up for a free real nappy trial, allowing them to try out washable nappies in their own home and on their baby, before spending any money on purchasing washables. 04/10/08 - Free Help for Cornish Businesses Cornish businesses are being invited to take a fresh look at product and packaging design to help reduce environmental impacts and achieve important cost savings for their company.
